Unknown gunmen kill traditional ruler in Benue State

The traditional ruler of Mbayongo district in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, Tyooor Awuha Alev, was shot dead by unknown gunmen.

It was gathered that the monarch was killed at his palace in Vingir village about 8:00pm on Sunday, September 25th.
Spokesman for the Benue State Police Command, ASP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the incident said the police received report at about 8:30pm that the Tyoor Mbayongo, Chief Alev was shot dead by some unknown men at his residence. The command has dispatched more policemen to the area to maintain law and order.

The body of the traditional ruler has been deposited at Kastina-Ala General Hospital. Yamu said that investigation into the murder has commenced.
